"We explore a variety of film works that offer visions beyond mainstream cultural and cinematic norms of sexuality, gender and race. Starting with investigations of pioneering feminist film theory, we will discuss and analyse films from the history of cinema including overlooked filmmakers in the ‚avant-garde' canon, as well as women identified ‚auteurs' and artists working in the contemporary art context including Germaine Dulac, Chantal Akerman, and Hannah Black."
